Our Model

Delaero, Inc. provides an extensible project life cycle methodology which can adapt and scale to fit any technology-based project. It is based on proven principles and best practices. It provides a framework and structured approach to projects.

The following diagram illustrates the phases in the methodology, as well as the steps in each phase. Click the plus symbol on the lower right to enlarge this diagram.

Delaero Project Methodology (DPM) has three stages, “Envision”, “Implement” and “Realize”:

Envision – Envisioning is the most important phase in the project life cycle. It will define your goals, and be the driver for achieving success. It starts with an idea - a vision for improving, growing, being better - and ends with a plan for getting there. Through this process the idea is transformed from a set of goals, into a concrete roadmap for reaching them. There are many challenges inherent in this process. Changing the way you do business can be risky if you are unsure of the best strategy or the impact the changes will have. Developing a clear plan based on your goals means assessing existing processes and resources, identifying critical junctures and exploring possible avenues for brining about the desired results. Using this top-level approach ensures that appropriate attention is given to all the elements that must interact to produce the ideal roadmap for your business:
Assess – The first step is to assess your current situation. This includes a technology assessment, a business practice assessment, and a resource assessment. The assessment provides the basis for creating the roadmap, which later becomes the blueprint for action.
Envision – Once it is clear what processes, resources and constraints exists, and what your specific goals are, Delaero consultants work together with you as a team to develop and refine a vision for success.
Scope – Delaero will work with you to shape and model your vision into a set of tasks - a project plan that will be possible to realize. The end product of the envisioning phase is a “Roadmap” to success. It is a tool that you can use to lead your company through the perils of technology, ensuring that you have a solution that makes both practical and financial sense.
Implement – This is the stage where you start to see your vision come to life. As the engineering and testing of the solution unfolds Delaero will provide leadership and guidance to keep the work on course. Drawing from several different development models, Delaero has the flexibility to shape the engineering process to suit your needs. Whether it is management of an outsourced implementation, mentoring and leading a technical team at your company, or implementing the solution ourselves, Delaero will make sure that the process fits.
Analyze – This step involves a detailed analysis of the work to be done, including a clear definition of all the components that must be part of the solution. The product of this step is a comprehensive requirements document outlining the details and specifications of the work to be done. We realize that requirements can change, and what was once set in stone may have eroded away. That’s why we start every iteration of the implementation phase with an overview of project goals to make sure the correct course is always being followed.
Design – Once the requirements are clear, the solution can be designed. A technical design document that outlines the whole, and the different pieces of the solution, as well as test plans, will be composed.
Build – This step represents the core engineering of the solution. The roadmap, requirements and design leads to writing code, performing integration work, conducting technical reviews, and unit testing the product, and ultimately culminates in the tangible solution.
Test – Testing is the foundation of a solid solution. Testing involves unit testing conducted by the developer in a QA environment, unit testing conducted by a QA engineer, integration testing, systems testing, thorough usability testing and finally, user acceptance testing. At this end of this step, you have a solid product ready to deploy.
Deploy – Deployment involves establishment of the production environment, outlining migration plans for existing data, and general deployment issues addressing hardware, user communities, and support of the application.
Realize – This final stage involves assessment and finalization. After the solution has been built, tested, and deployed, it is time to measure the success of the project against the goals laid out in the roadmap. The finalization of the solution involves a cost effective plan to maintain and support the application going forward, and ensuring all the tools and resources are in place for continued success.

In the end, the steps are simple if you take the right approach, and have the right people helping you: Envision, Implement, Realize.
